The chief purpose of Center for International Mediators and Arbitrators is now devoted to the promotion of the SEA Pledge—a commitment to shaping a more inclusive and forward-looking future for our shared professional community.
By endorsing this Pledge, individuals affirm their dedication to the study of arbitration, to empowerment of their law firms, bar associations and to advancement of arbitration across sectors and jurisdictions.
We earnestly invite you to lend your name to this important undertaking by signing the Pledge, and to act as an ambassador for its ideals. As a member of the international community of mediators, arbitrators, and dispute resolution professionals, and in recognition of the urgent need to foster inclusive excellence and regional development in alternative dispute resolution, I hereby solemnly commit to the following:
Study
To actively support the study of arbitration and mediation, particularly within underrepresented regions and communities, and to encourage continuous learning, ethical practice, and scholarly engagement among aspiring and established practitioners.
Empower
To empower law firms, bar associations, professional societies, and young professionals in Africa and across the Global South by sharing knowledge, building capacity, and promoting opportunities for meaningful participation in domestic and international dispute resolution.
Advance
To advance the use of arbitration and mediation across sectors and jurisdictions, and to promote institutional growth, professional development, and cross-border collaboration through inclusive dialogue and responsible leadership.
